The Legion serves the Church and others through schools, universities and centers to form the character and Christian virtue of families, youth, and married couples, as well as the Christian and humanitarian development of the poor. Legionaries serve the local churches through catechesis, missions, media apostolates, and they offer diocesan priests ongoing formation courses in their dioceses. The name sums up a Christ-centered spirituality in which Jesus Christ is the center, standard, and model of a Legionary''s religious, priestly, and apostolic life. LOVE FOR CHRIST Legionaries seek to experience and know Christ intimately in the Gospel, the Eucharist, and the Cross. They strive to love Him in a personal and passionate way by imitating as their only model of holiness.

Social Participation Program One of the educational goals of Legionary schools is to deepen the students'' sense of responsibility regarding the transformation of society and the need to build a culture rooted in the Christian values of love and justice. Hence, the Legion has launched a program of Christian charity directed by youth. The purpose of this program is to develop the students'' awareness and sensitivity toward the problems afflicting society. Students have as part of their curriculum a weekly class on the principles of the Church''s social doctrine and human development. They participate in monthly social activities in which the entire school community is involved: students, parents, teachers, and administrators. This program''s influence extends to parishes, shelters, hospitals, and schools for mentally handicapped children, centers for the blind, centers for children from broken homes, orphanages, day-care centers, and low-income communities.

LOVE FOR MARY Imitating Christ, Legionaries seek to love the Blessed Virgin with the tender love of a son, for she is the Mother of the Church and of their vocation. They consecrate their spiritual and apostolic life to her care. They seek to imitate her virtues: faith, hope, charity, obedience, humility, and cooperation with Christ''s plan of redemption. LOVE FOR THE CHURCH AND THE POPE Legionaries seek to love and serve Christ in the Church, the beginning of his Kingdom on earth. The real, objective, and passionate love for the Church includes seeing her both as she is and as Christ wants her to be. This love brings Legionaries to honor her in faith, embrace her in obedience, labor for her growth, and make her first in their lives. To love the Church means being always in step with the Church, neither ahead nor behind. Love for the Church brings Legionaries to support and follow the Pope, promoting his charism of primacy and magisterium. In a spirit of faith, they honor all bishops in communion with the Pope, as successors of the Apostles and witnesses of the Catholic faith.
