Full Time Catechists The Legionaries of Christ implemented a plan for forming and maintaining professional, full-time catechists in Latin America over 20 years ago. Its purpose is to check the tremendous advance of secularism, religious indifference, and the proselytism of pseudo-religious sects. The Full Time Catechist project is intended to support bishops by preparing evangelizers and placing them at the service of dioceses and parishes. These committed lay men and women, working as couples or individually, function as catechists. They always work in close cooperation with bishops and parish priests. In order to carry out their work, full-time evangelizers receive a salary that enables them to live decently while fulfilling their specific mission.

Educational Consulting Centers The first educational consulting center was founded in Mexico in 1989. Presently similar centers exist in the United States (National Consultants for Education), Spain, Chile, Brazil and Venezuela. The purpose of these centers is to offer assistance to primary, middle, and secondary schools through the development of an academic curriculum geared to the needs of each school. The centers also publish textbooks, provide consulting services on academics, administration, personnel, and an overall evaluation of a particular school''s effectiveness. Computer Education Research Center The Computer Education Research Center aims at putting the world of information at the service of education. One of the first fruits of this center has been the production of software which helps students'' understanding of educational subject matter, as well as awakening and developing their creativity and problem-solving skills-analyzing, synthesizing, making relations and judgements- that is, going beyond the mere manipulation of data.

It offers a diverse range of services, such as: catechesis, home construction and remodeling, recreational and athletic activities, events for human and intellectual formation, ecological support, censuses, drives to raise food, money and medicine, and urban development. Missions of evangelization are also conducted in the most spiritually needy neighborhoods. Sacraments are administered at this time, especially baptism and the blessing of marriages. Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum Regina Apostolorum Institute of Religious Sciences With the collaboration of the Legionaries of Christ, the Holy See established this new Athenaeum for the study of Philosophy and Theology at Rome in 1993. 675 students were enrolled during the 1998-1999 academic year. In April 1999 the Congregation for Catholic Education approved the Institute for Religious Sciences under the auspices of the Athenaeum''s faculty of theology. The Institute offers a degree in Religious Sciences that can be obtained through distance learning.
