In the apostolate, they help to form lay men and women who love Jesus Christ and the Church deeply. These lay apostles have a profound sense of Christian justice and charity, and are willing to set aside either part or all of their time to extend Christ''s Kingdom. Regnum Christi members come to understand that it pertains to the laity - be they young or old, male or female, students or professionals, workers or executives - to grow in holiness and to sanctify their private and professional environments with their personal witness, their works, and their words. All Christians are called to be leaven and light wherever they may be. The Legionaries of Christ and Regnum Christi members establish works of apostolate above all in eleven basic areas: 1. EVANGELIZATION The Legionaries of Christ and Regnum Christi members take special notice of the need to evangelize all peoples, especially through the creation of works that make the treasure of the Catholic faith available and easily accessible to everyone. They seek to offer a serious and enthusiastic response to Pope John Paul''s challenge for a New Evangelization.

LOVE FOR MARY Imitating Christ, Legionaries seek to love the Blessed Virgin with the tender love of a son, for she is the Mother of the Church and of their vocation. They consecrate their spiritual and apostolic life to her care. They seek to imitate her virtues: faith, hope, charity, obedience, humility, and cooperation with Christ''s plan of redemption. LOVE FOR THE CHURCH AND THE POPE Legionaries seek to love and serve Christ in the Church, the beginning of his Kingdom on earth. The real, objective, and passionate love for the Church includes seeing her both as she is and as Christ wants her to be. This love brings Legionaries to honor her in faith, embrace her in obedience, labor for her growth, and make her first in their lives. To love the Church means being always in step with the Church, neither ahead nor behind. Love for the Church brings Legionaries to support and follow the Pope, promoting his charism of primacy and magisterium. In a spirit of faith, they honor all bishops in communion with the Pope, as successors of the Apostles and witnesses of the Catholic faith.

At present, 38 nationalities from five continents are represented in the Legion. The age of Legionary priests and seminarians is 28. Throughout the year vocation discernment retreats are held at Legionary novitiates for young men who want to test their call by spending some time with Legionaries. The Legionaries of Christ and the members of the Regnum Christi Movement understand their mission as a sharing in Christ''s redemptive mission: salvation must reach every person without distinction. Taking into account the pastoral programs of each diocese, Legionaries and Regnum Christi members endeavor to collaborate in this task through the exercise of their specific charism. That charism is a spirituality that helps Christians live their baptismal commitments in the midst of their personal, family and professional circumstances.
