In the apostolate, they help to form lay men and women who love Jesus Christ and the Church deeply. These lay apostles have a profound sense of Christian justice and charity, and are willing to set aside either part or all of their time to extend Christ''s Kingdom. Regnum Christi members come to understand that it pertains to the laity - be they young or old, male or female, students or professionals, workers or executives - to grow in holiness and to sanctify their private and professional environments with their personal witness, their works, and their words. All Christians are called to be leaven and light wherever they may be. The Legionaries of Christ and Regnum Christi members establish works of apostolate above all in eleven basic areas: 1. EVANGELIZATION The Legionaries of Christ and Regnum Christi members take special notice of the need to evangelize all peoples, especially through the creation of works that make the treasure of the Catholic faith available and easily accessible to everyone. They seek to offer a serious and enthusiastic response to Pope John Paul''s challenge for a New Evangelization.

The evangelizer seeks to fulfill his mission by pursuing these goals: educating others in the faith so they may preach and teach catechesis; forming part-time evangelizers; creating evangelization centers and teams of lay people dedicated to promoting a sound human and Christian formation; helping pastoral action; and promoting an integral human development through education programs and projects aimed at bettering living conditions. Prayer, Reflection, and Study Centers Regnum Christi members seek to establish centers for prayer, reflexion and study, retreats, spiritual exercises, workshops, as well as courses on Sacred Scripture, Pontifical Magisterium and other related themes. They are open to young people, adults, pastoral associates, religious and priests. Schools of the Faith The School of the Faith is a pontifical institute of pastoral catechetics approved by the Congregation for the Clergy in 1979. Its specific goal is to support the work of the bishops and their pastoral associates in local churches by training teachers of the faith, according to a plan of studies which will give them expert instruction in Catholic doctrine. Schools of the Faith foster close communion with the Pope and the magisterium of the Church and endeavor to supply today''s Catholics with the most modern and efficient teaching tools for evangelization.

Helping Hand schools are apostolic projects designed to serve those most in need. Located in the poorest and most underdeveloped areas, these tuition-free schools are funded by the Legion''s network of private schools. The first Helping Hand school was founded in Mexico City in 1965. Today Helping Hand schools, along with a network of apostolic projects for social development, have formed a chain of true Christian solidarity and charity that reaches to the United States, Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Chile, and Bosnia. This network is not restricted to education but extends to many other areas of social action. It includes workshops for the technical training of men and women, medical services for children and adults, monthly grants of food and clothing, courses on personal formation and human advancement for parents, marriage preparation courses, vocational guidance, personal guidance in developing human and spiritual values, instruction in the faith, catechesis, and sacramental attention.
