They consecrate their spiritual and apostolic life to her care. They seek to imitate her virtues: faith, hope, charity, obedience, humility, and cooperation with Christ''s plan of redemption. LOVE FOR THE CHURCH AND THE POPE Legionaries seek to love and serve Christ in the Church, the beginning of his Kingdom on earth. The real, objective, and passionate love for the Church includes seeing her both as she is and as Christ wants her to be. This love brings Legionaries to honor her in faith, embrace her in obedience, labor for her growth, and make her first in their lives. To love the Church means being always in step with the Church, neither ahead nor behind. Love for the Church brings Legionaries to support and follow the Pope, promoting his charism of primacy and magisterium. In a spirit of faith, they honor all bishops in communion with the Pope, as successors of the Apostles and witnesses of the Catholic faith. Helping Hand schools are apostolic projects designed to serve those most in need. Located in the poorest and most underdeveloped areas, these tuition-free schools are funded by the Legion''s network of private schools. The first Helping Hand school was founded in Mexico City in 1965. Today Helping Hand schools, along with a network of apostolic projects for social development, have formed a chain of true Christian solidarity and charity that reaches to the United States, Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Chile, and Bosnia. This network is not restricted to education but extends to many other areas of social action. It includes workshops for the technical training of men and women, medical services for children and adults, monthly grants of food and clothing, courses on personal formation and human advancement for parents, marriage preparation courses, vocational guidance, personal guidance in developing human and spiritual values, instruction in the faith, catechesis, and sacramental attention. Institute for Evangelization This institute founded in the United States prepares catechists who will effectively promote Catholic doctrine. It provides formation in the areas of doctrine, catechetical methodology, spiritual and pastoral support. Faithful to the magisterium of the Church, the Institute for Evangelization places special emphasis on the permanent formation of catechists in the faith, encouraging them to be faithful witnesses of Christ''s love and message. The members of the Institute for Evangelization work together with local churches in catechesis and by sponsoring youth organizations. The Treasure of My Catholic Faith This is an educational project that seeks to promote knowledge of and appreciation for the treasure of Catholic faith both at home and at school. It consists of a series of books for grades K-12 whose content is drawn from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, while implementing the new advances in the area of traditional and modern educational research.
